The last of the Senior Spring/Summer Football Five5 Leagues concluded last night at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility. A record number of 345 teams across Senior Men, Senior Women, Senior Mixed, Youth and Saturday Morning Junior participated in Leagues which spanned from September to February. Almost 2800 players enjoyed the fast paced Football Five5 format in more than 1900 Five-a-side matches.

NNSWF CEO, David Eland said “We were thrilled with the number of teams that participated in the recent Leagues. Football Five5 is clearly providing more players with more opportunities to play more football. What is very pleasing is that Football Five5 has reengaged former players who have not played outdoor for many years. Of course there are also thousands of outdoor players who play Five5 throughout the off-season to maintain their touch and fitness.”

“The Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility has enjoyed another successful year. The revenue generated through Football Five5, casual pitch hire and Sidelines Café continues to reduce NNSWF’s reliance on the registration fees paid by community footballers and ensures that the facility will be enjoyed by future generations.” Eland concluded.

NNSWF hasn’t wasted any time addressing the expected wear and tear on the Football Five5 synthetic pitches. Polytan’s team of repairer specialists will be on-site for the next week to ensure that the pitches are ready for the Autumn Leagues which commence on Monday 19th February.
